Bloodborne is an action role-playing video game developed by Japanese company FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment with the game's release on in March 2015. Similar to previous games released by FromSoftware, most notably the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne has the similar punishing gameplay but this time with the removal of shields, the gameplay is far more fast paced.

The game follows the player character called "the Hunter" through a Victorian era inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants have been afflicted with an abnormal blood-borne disease(hence the game's title). Upon mysteriously awakening in Yharnam during the night of "The Hunt", the Hunter seeks out something known only as "Paleblood" for reasons unknown. As the game progresses, we begin to unravel Yharnam's many mysteries although the more we learn, the more questions we are left with rather than answers.

Similar to the Dark Souls games, the game is played from a third person view with the players controlling 'the Hunter' who can be named and customized to your liking, from changing genders to changing how old he looks and hair color etc. Gameplay is focused on weapons-based combat and exploration, there are many hidden secrets to unravel and even traversing through the normal levels gets confusing if you are not paying attention.

Sometime later, an expansion for the game, titled The Old Hunters, was released in November 2015 which added 5 new bosses and a whole new area to explore giving about 10-15 hours of new gameplay.

In summary, Bloodborne is a major success yet again from FromSoftware and the way they changed up the formula from the Dark Souls series worked fantastically well. The only downside of the game is that it is only exclusively available for the PlayStation 4 but even then several people would argue it is worth getting that console just to play this game

Final Score- 9.5/10
